Heathfield Agricultural show

Well, what a great day out this was!
The Weather was glories, sunny and very hot, despite the wind. This is a show we try to get to every year as it is local and very well organised. It’s takes place at Heathfield, East Sussex.

The headline main attraction this year was:-
Jason Smythe’s adrenalin tour.
He is a world champion moto-cross rider and gave a really great display performing various stunts, jumps on his bike and quad bike. He did all this while also giving a running commentary of the stunts from the radio mike in his crash helmet, true multi-tasking!

On a more gentle note there was an interesting parade of vintage tractors, which compared to some of the big new modern ones that were on display, showing just how far tractor development has come on in recent years.

There was a Harrier flight simulator which I thought was going to be brilliant, especially as it was badged Royal Navy and as was supposed to be a low level sortie; but it turned out be 4 minutes of disappointing quality scenery and a just lot of just bouncing rocking around in a box.
Now something that I have heard about but never seen before was the automatic garden lawn mower the Automower, made by Husqvarna. This cuts the grass while you get on with something else more important! You can leave out on your grass for most of the summer and it works it’s way around the garden automatically keeping the grass looking good. It even has a built in burglar alarm to keep it safe. It’s a must have for any gadget mad family.

There always seems to be a huge number of different breeds that their owners bring along to the show. We left our pack at home as we thought it would be too hot for them. The most “unusual breed of the day” award went to the Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer which was a breed that we had never heard of before.
It was a throughly good day out and we left looking forward to next year’s event.
